KSDK-- A man referred to as the "Patriarch" of St. Louis remains missing.
Family members say I.E. Millstone, 102, went missing on Saturday. Millstone graduated from Washington University with an engineering degree in 1927. At that time, Millstone was already a successful businessman with his own construction company. His company was a pioneer in the use of reinforced concrete.
NewsChannel 5 has confirmed Millstone drove off in his caretaker's car. That car was found on the Daniel Boone Bridge around 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Around the same time, the Missouri Highway Patrol was called to the area to investigate a report of a man jumping off the bridge. The Highway Patrol conducted a search but did not find anything. The Highway Patrol says it can't confirm any connection between their investigation into the incident and Millstone's disappearance.
Millstone's company built the original Highway 40, old Busch Stadium and the campus of the Jewish Community Center in Creve Coeur. He is also well known for his charitable society, The Millstone Charitable Foundation, and his contributions including over $1 million annually to Washington University to support some 60 scholarships.
