NBC -- A New York woman is hoping surveillance footage will help her find a lost $19,000 diamond ring.
"Maryann", who didn't want to give her real name, was shopping paying for her purchases at the Target in Commack, New York last month when she dropped the ring.
A Target employee found it moments later and rushed to return it, but mistakenly gave it to another woman instead.
That woman kept the ring and left the store.
"Maryann" says the diamond ban, an anniversary gift from her husband, was insured and she's since been compensated, but she's still angry that the Target employee didn't ask the other woman for proof that she owned the ring.
Police are investigating, and say the woman who kept the ring could face charges if she's found.
