KSDK -- Prosecutors charged a man accused of breaking into a Belleville, Illinois home and beating a man when he tried to intervene.

Belleville police said Tonnie Mosley, 18, of 1805 West A St. in Bellville, is charged with residential burglary.

Police said two men broke into a home on June 29 at 12:30 p.m., while someone was at the home. The victim tried to stop the man, but the suspects beat him and took a safe from the home.

The victim found out where the suspects may have gone and tried to get the safe back himself. He then called police.

Police have not found the second suspect.
