KSDK -- The state's attorney's office released several search warrants this week detailing the investigation into the murders of Sheri, Gavin and Garrett Coleman. Husband and father Chris Coleman is accused of their murders. The documents reveal more information about his affair and the deterioration of his marriage.
On the day Sheri, Gavin and Garrett Coleman were laid to rest, husband and father Chris Coleman was texting his girlfriend, Tarah Lintz, according to newly released court documents. The texts said he loved and missed Lintz.
The documents also detailed how Sheri and Chris Coleman's marriage fell apart. Sheri's friends said Chris asked for a divorce in the months leading up to her murder.
On the morning of the murders, Coleman called his wife and texted her several times. The first call happened just one minute after he left his Columbia home for the gym. However, medical experts have said Sheri and her sons were dead hours earlier.
Coleman faces three counts of first-degree murder for the strangulation deaths of Sheri and their sons.
Coleman, who worked as the head of security for Joyce Meyer Ministries, told police he had received several threats in the six months leading up to the murders that had to do with his job. He said there was a connection to the murder. One of the threats was sent from an email account destroychris@gmail.com.
It said: "Tell Joyce to stop preaching the bull**** or Chris' family will die. During the Houston conference, I will kill them as they sleep. If I don't hit there then I will kill them during the book tour."
Meanwhile, Sheri Coleman's family has filed a civil suit against Chris.
"There seemed to be a plan in place that Mr. Christopher Coleman had talked about," said Jack Carey, attorney for the Coleman family. "We want to know who knew about these threats, what they knew and when did they know about them."
Carey said these new documents help fill in some of the missing pieces and build the civil case against Coleman.
Coleman remains in jail. His attorneys would not comment about the documents or anything about the case, which is expected to go to trial sometime next year.
