
KSDK -- 40 years ago today, the man considered by many as the greatest player in St. Louis Cardinals history joined baseball's most elite club.
After 22 years as a Cardinal, Stan Musial ranked at the top of many of baseball's all-time lists. He finished his career with a .331 batting average, 1,949 runs, 1,951 RBIs and 475 homers.
He batted above .300 in 17 seasons and won seven National League batting titles. Musial was a three-time MVP and played in 24 All-Star games.
