Local teacher charged with sex crimes

KSDK -- A 33-year-old teacher in St. Louis County was charged with a sex crime against a teen.

Neil Swyres, a teacher at Bayless Intermediate School, is accused of using his web cam to expose himself to someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl.

Investigators said Swyres was actually trying to solicit sexual acts from a St. Charles County detective, who was working a sting operation.

Swyres resigned from his job as a physical education teacher.

He is out tonight on bail. Police said they have no reason to believe anything criminal happened at the school.
