KSDK -- The St. Louis Rams helped welcome high school students in the St. Louis Public Schools on the first day of the new school year.
Rams staff, alumni and cheerleaders were at Beaumont High School, Vashon High School, Sumner High School and Roosevelt High School Monday morning. The passed out $25,000 worth of school supplies to the students.
The Rams also donated 500 pairs of tickets to the Rams and Atlanta Falcons game on Friday night to be used in a drawing to be an added incentive for students to show up on the first day.
The Rams are partnering with the four high schools in conjunction with Matthews-Dickey and Reach Out St. Louis, a program aimed at combating the local dropout crisis. Reach Out St. Louis identifies, engages, organizes and integrates community resources which are necessary to address and resolve the educational and social services issues which contribute to, and exacerbate, the high school dropout crisis.
