KSDK -- A 53-year-old Pilot Knob woman was charged Friday for the death of a three-month-old baby.
The State Attorney General's Office charged Martha J. Farris with abuse of a child resulting in death and involuntary manslaughter.
Three-month-old William Samuel Pratt died February 2 as a result of closed head injury.
Prosecutors said Farris, who admitted to babysitting the boy, told investigators that she swung him from one side of a couch to another, slamming his head against an armrest. She then allegedly hit the boy on the head with her elbow and then with the back of her arm.
Farris posted bond shortly after her arrest.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for September 4.
