
KSDK -- A benefit is being planned to benefit the family of an 18-month-old killed earlier this month in a mobile home fire in Crawford County, Missouri.
The Thomas Family Benefit Auction will be October 17 at the Steelville County Club. Anyone with donations for the auction or money for the Emma Thomas Memorial Fund should be sent to Ozark Mountain Tech. at 106 Midland Drive in Cuba, Missouri, 65453. Checks should be made out to the Memorial Fund.
The sheriff said family members were inside the mobile home in the Cherryville area when the started. They were able to escape with one of the two children. The father rushed inside to save the Emma, but could not reach her. He suffered burns to his hands and feet.
The victim's mother, Michelle Thomas, had just dropped the couple's five-year-old son off at the bus stop and was headed to work when she got the call about the fire.
The home was a total loss.
