KSDK -- A Doe Run employee was injured Tuesday afternoon at the company's Fletcher Mine when some ground gave way, falling on top of him.
According to Bob Roscoe, vice president of mining at The Doe Run Company's Southeast Missouri Mining and Milling Division, said the employee's injuries are not life-threatening.
Roscoe said that around 1 p.m., a small fall of ground occurred. He said Doe Run employees immediately rushed to the aid of the injured worker.
"The safety of our employees is our top priority," Roscoe said. "We appreciate the immediate action of those responding to the scene, including the local ambulance service. An internal safety investigation is being conducted. Our thoughts are with the employee for a full and speedy recovery."
The mine is located in the town of Bunker, which is west of Farmington.
Based in St. Louis, The Doe Run Company is the largest integrated lead producer in the Western Hemisphere. Doe Run operates the world's largest, single-site lead recycling facility, located in Boss, Missouri.
