FARMINGTON, Mo. (AP) -- An eastern Missouri man mistakenly released from jail last month is back in custody after being captured at the Canadian border.
Jackie Lynn Baldwin was inadvertently let go from the St. Francois County jail on Sept. 14. The Park Hills Daily Journal reports he was arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol on Tuesday as he tried to make his way into Canada, and is being held in New York. An extradition hearing is expected within 10 days.
Baldwin's wife was with him, but was not arrested.
Baldwin faces sentencing on Nov. 20 and was being held in jail until then. He had entered an Alford plea to domestic assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
He was released as the result of a computer error, but authorities say Baldwin knew he was not supposed to be released.
