KSDK -- County police detectives are investigating a bank robbery that occurred Friday morning in Frontenac.

According to Rick Eckhard, a spokesman for the St. Louis County Police Department, it happened at 11 a.m. at National City Bank, located in the 2100 block of S. Mason Road at Manchester.

The suspect, an African-American woman in her 30s, walked into the bank brandishing a knife and handgun, Eckhard said. She fled on foot after being given an undisclosed amount of cash.

Authorities described the suspect as standing 5'7" tall, weighing about 240 pounds, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a blue Cardinals hat with a bird on the front.
