BETHEL, Mo. (AP) -- A Quincy, Ill., man has died after drowning in a lake in northeast Missouri.

The Hannibal Courier-Post reported on Friday that Charles Smith died at a lake at the Heartland Ministries facility near Bethel in Shelby County.

The body was found Wednesday, about 24 hours after Smith was last seen putting a boat into the water to go fishing. The drowning was ruled accidental.
