ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The mother of condemned Missouri inmate Reginald Clemons will be among the speakers at a panel discussion in St. Louis on police brutality.
The event at 7 p.m. Thursday was organized by the Coalition Against Police Crimes and Repression as part of a national day of protest against brutality.
Clemons claims police brutalized him into giving a statement that led to his conviction and death sentence for the April 1991 murders of two sisters in St. Louis.
Organizer Jamala Rogers said the group did not invite a member of the police department to join the panel, saying it had refused such invitations in the past.
Police did not respond Wednesday to a request for comment.
