
KSDK -- The Madison County Sheriff's Office is investigating a dog shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon in Moro, Illinois.
According to Captain Brad Wells, Chief of Detectives for the Madison County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the first block of Haven Street around 1:25 p.m.
When authorities arrived at the scene, the person who shot the dog was identified. A man shot his own dog while on his own property, burying the dog in the yard. The man told police the dog had health problems.
Animal Control officers exhumed the dog for further examination.
No charges have been filed, but the case may be turned over to a grand jury.
