CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) -- A woman and her 15-year-old son are dead after a shooting at a home in the southeast Missouri town of Cape Girardeau.
Names of the victims have not been released, and no suspect was in custody.
The Southeast Missourian newspaper reports that police received a 911 call about 5 a.m. Tuesday from a 14-year-old boy that two people had been shot inside the home near the Southeast Missouri State University campus. Officers found the 30-year-old mother and her son fatally wounded by gunshots.
The 14-year-old and his 9-year-old brother were in the house but not injured.
Police say there were signs of forced entry.
Cape Girardeau had not had a murder since 42-year-old George Robinson died in an arson fire 18 months ago.
