KSDK-- A man wanted for questioning for the murders of three women in East St. Louis has been arrested.
The shooting happened at the Crown Food Mart Saturday night. The manager, Jay Makhluf, says he heard gunfire around 9:30 p.m.
"It was like you know it was like one after the other one it was like three or four, " Makhluf said.
The gunfire was directed at a car carrying three women and three children. The victims have been identified as Tanikia Harvey, 26, Raykel Gathings, 26 and Jaimaca McDaniel, 24.
McDaniel's cousin, Arvella Lewis, says the three women were the best of friends.
"Basically they all hung together they looked out for each other you know," said Lewis.
McDaniel's two sons ages 1 and 2 and Harvey's son, 8, were inside the car but not physically harmed.
Police say this was no random act and think it may have been domestic in nature.
Police took the suspect into custody Sunday night but are still trying to find his car. It's a white 1993 Mercury Grand Marquis, with Illinois registration: X101862. Police say anyone who spots the car should call 911. Anyone with information on the shootings is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS.
So far no charges have been filed in the case.
