KSDK -- Some yoga instructors are questioning a new sales tax on yoga classes.
The Missouri Department of Revenue sent letters to 140 yoga and Pilates centers on October 13, telling them they must collect sales tax on fees for their classes.
Department of Revenue spokesman Ted Farnet told the Associated Press that some other states collect similar sales tax, but that statement was disproven by numerous media outlets.
The Big Bend Center is one local yoga center protesting this new sales tax. It issued a statement to its students asking them to speak out to state leaders against the tax.
