ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The CEO of Las Vegas-based Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc. has resigned, days after he allegedly confronted a St. Louis County Council member over another company's casino zoning vote.

Pinnacle said in a statement that Daniel R. Lee resigned Monday "to pursue other business interests."

Lee allegedly asked St. Louis County Council member Steve Stenger to vote against a zoning request from another company. When Stenger voted last week to approve the request, Lee allegedly told Stenger's assistant the council member had made the worst move of his political career.

The Missouri Gaming Commission said Friday that Lee's actions were being investigated.

Pinnacle owns Lumiere Place and The President casinos in downtown St. Louis. The River City casino complex is scheduled to open next year in St. Louis County.
