MARION, Ill. (AP) -- Health officials in southern Illinois' Williamson County say they've confirmed their first death from swine flu.

The Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department isn't identifying the victim by name, gender, age or hometown. The department also isn't saying when the death happened, citing privacy issues.

But Health Education Director Whitney Mehaffy says the victim had underlying medical conditions.

It's the first H1N1-related death in that agency's jurisdiction.

The agency is reminding anyone in the region to seek medical attention if they experience flu-like symptoms, especially if they have other health problems.
