KSDK -- The Major Case Squad concluded that an East St. Louis woman's gunshot wound was accidental and the bullet was fired from her own gun.

Investigators determined that 22-year-old Zondra Garner's gun went off while she was getting out of a vehicle, both of her hands full of food.  The bullet hit her in the face, killing her.

The shooting happened Monday afternoon outside the Gompers Housing Project on North 6th Street.

Garner is the cousin of Jaimaca McDaniel, one of the three women shot to death at the Crown Food Mart in East St. Louis Saturday night.

The Major Case Squad said it did not believe Garner was carrying a gun for fear for her safety following that shooting.
