KSDK -- One week after a woman was brutally murdered and dismembered in Pacific, the family of victim Stephanie Fields is speaking out about what happened.
Jennifer Wagner, Fields' sister, spoke to NewsChannel 5 by phone on Monday. She wants people to know who Stephanie Fields was and what she went through.
"I couldn't believe it, when I sat there and was watching that video, seeing (the suspect) just standing there watching and knowing what he had done, and that was my sister in that trash can," Wagner said.
Wagner said her sister had left Loggins the week before, but returned Sunday to retrieve some belongings.
"She went back to get something and never came back," Wagner said.
Wagner describes a tumultuous relationship between the two; one that she says included both physical and verbal abuse.
She describes mean text messages Loggins sent Fields: "Every time I told you I loved you, I wanted to laugh in your face."
Still, Wagner said no one could have predicted this.
Wagner said the family is still in shock, focusing now on how to pay for a funeral and to provide for Field's ten year old daughter. They said Stephanie Fields loved her family, loved life, and had a smile that could light up a room. They say that's how they hope she'll be remembered.
"You can't sit there and think of how she died and what happened. You're eventually going to have to learn to just remember the good things, remember who she was," Wagner said.
The visitation for Stephanie Fields will be Thursday November 12th at the Chapel Hill Mortuary located at 6300 Highway 30 in Cedar Hill. It will go from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m., with the funeral to follow.
The Stephanie Fields Memorial Fund has been established at Truman Bank to help pay for her burial.
