KSDK -- A rolling gun battle ended in a crash with one person dead and several injured in north St. Louis County.

Police said people inside two vehicles fired shots at each other while heading southbound on Lucas and Hunt Road near Lutheran North High School.

One of the vehicles crashed into another vehicle heading northbound and caused it to overturn several times. The vehicle that was hit was not involved in the gun battle.

Police said a 40-year-old man who was inside the vehicle in the crash, which had been involved in the shooting, died at the scene. They said he has been shot several times. Two passengers in the vehicle were severely injured. There is no word if they were also shot.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck was severely injured and was taken to a nearby hospital, according to police.

Lucas and Hunt was closed for several hours during the investigation.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was looking for a light-colored, possibly silver, Lincoln with temporary Illinois license tags which was seen speeding from the scene and may have been involved in the rolling gun battle.
