KSDK -- A St. Louis paramedic caught in a sex scandal is maintaining his innocence. He was arrested in the parking lot of a Church's Chicken restaurant last week.
Normally we don't identify suspects until criminal charges are filed. But in this case, because the man involved is a public servant, we're making an exception.
Mike Morgan didn't want to say much about his arrest. But the St. Louis paramedic did want us to know this, "There is no basis behind what is going on."
It happened November 4th. Morgan was taken into custody on the 1200 block of Lemay Ferry, in the parking lot of a Church's Chicken.
He's now being investigated for sex-related offenses by St. Louis County Police.
Authorities aren't releasing details at this point, calling it an active investigation.
A spokesperson for the St. Louis Fire Department says the chief is aware of the situation and has put Morgan on paid leave for the time being.
When we caught up with Morgan near his home, he professed his innocence. And while he said he didn't want to do a formal interview, or elaborate on details of his arrest, he says he believes the truth about what happened, will come out eventually.
Morgan says, "When it all gets said out in the wash, it's going to turn out fine, that's what matters."
No word on when any charges might be expected. Authorities tell us the forensics in a case like this can often take weeks or months.
