Police: Man tries to run after wrong way crash

KSDK -- A man who tried to run following a head-on crash in the Metro East was taken into police custody.

Police said the suspect was driving the wrong way on Bond Avenue near the Alorton and East St. Louis line when he hit another vehicle around 6:00 a.m. Friday. The driver then got out of the car and tried to run from the scene. Police caught up with the suspect and had him perform field sobriety tests. Police said he was taken into custody for wreckless driving.

The driver in the other vehicle had minor injuries.

The name of the suspect has not been released.
