KSDK -- A storm system has already dropped two to three inches of rain across mid-Missouri and to the north of the metro area. More than an inch of rain has fallen around the metro area. Localized flooding was reported Sunday night to the north and west of St. Louis.
The National Weather Service has canceled the flood watch for much of the area. The flood watch continues for Pike and Lincoln counties in Missouri and Calhoun, Greene, Jersey and Macoupin counties in Illinois.
The weather system responsible for the rain will be hanging around through midweek with a continuing chance for showers. Temperatures will remain below normal during the afternoons through Wednesday.
Additional rainfall amounts should average between a half an inch to an inch through Wednesday night.
