KSDK -- The Madison County Health Department will hold two H1N1 vaccine walk-in clinics this week in Wood River, Illinois where people will be able to get the shot or nasal spray.
The clinics will be Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until noon at the health department at E. Edwardsville Road.
The vaccine will only be given to pregnant women, household contacts and caregivers for children under six months old, healthcare and emergency medical services personnel, children and young adults between six months and 24 years old, and people between 25 and 64 years old who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications or death from the flu.
There will also be school-based clinics at schools in the county in November and December. A list of dates and locations is posted on the Madison County Health Department's Web site.
The H1N1 vaccine is FREE. A parent or legal guardian must be present with children under 18. From the Madison County Health Department's Web site, you can download, print, complete, and bring with you the H1N1 Vaccine Record and HIPAA Form.
If your child recently had FluMist, MMR, or Varicella vaccine, they must wait 28 days after that vaccine before getting the H1N1 Nasal Mist.
