KSDK -- A jury convicted a former Missouri National Guard member on forcible rape and attempted forcible sodomy charges in connection to incidents in Jefferson County in 2001.

Jurors returned the guilty verdict against Mark Brooks, 28, on Wednesday afternoon. They were unable to reach a unanimous verdict on the kidnapping charge after deliberating for two days.

Brooks was serving prison time in an Illinois prison for assaulting another woman and was about to be released in 2007 when Jefferson County authorities notified Illinois prison officials of their case against Brooks. They took him to the jail in Hillsboro.

Brooks will be sentenced in early next year in Jefferson County.
