KSDK -- A 16-year-old girl was killed Monday afternoon in an accident on Highway 61 in St. Charles County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
The accident took place at 5:22 p.m. at Highway 61 and Route P.
According to state police, the driver of the first vehicle, Michelle D. Hampton, was traveling westbound on Route P in a 1994 Chevy Corisca. Hampton supposedly failed to stop for a posted stop sign and accidentally crossed into the northbound lanes.
A 2007 Chevy Avalanche traveling in the northbound lanes struck the left side of Hampton's vehicle, pushing it into the right side of a third vehicle.
Hampton was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two drivers were not seriously injured.
