KSDK -- A new facility opened to help the homeless and prevent homelessness in the St. Louis area.

Mayor Francis Slay, Congressman William Lacy Clay and Superintendent Kelvin Adams attended the ribbon cutting ceremony at Clay Elementary School for the Hope is Moving In homeless prevention program.

The program provides financial assistance for rental/utility deposits and payments, moving costs, relocation and stabilization help through case management, housing placement, legal services and credit repair.

The city received $8.4 million in stimulus funding to develop programs to prevent homelessness and to assist homeless people in securing housing.

Clay Elementary School is the fourth center for the program.
