KSDK -- The City of St. Louis Parking System is increasing parking meter rates in downtown and surrounding areas, starting Monday, November 30.

Drivers will get 15 minutes of parking for every quarter deposited in a downtown meter and 20 minutes for every quarter in all other areas or as otherwise posted.

The Parking System's rate hike comes on the heels of a National Parking Association survey, which shows on-street meter rates ran as high as $3 per hour for most major U.S. cities, with St. Louis ranking in the lower third. The parking division reviewed prices in other cities and changing market conditions.
