KSDK -- The St. Louis Track Club is celebrating the reopening of Interstate 64 by hosting a 5k Run/Walk on the western lanes of the highway.

The non-profit St. Louis Track Club is donating the net proceeds from the race to three other local non-profit organizations that work to build the St. Louis community: Forest Park Forever, Pathways to Independence, and PayBack, Inc.

Last year, the St. Louis Track Club donated over $10,000 to PayBack, Inc. when the western section of the highway was completed.

The race is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. on Sunday, December 6, on I-64 near the Tamm Avenue overpass. The event is 3.1 miles long and will go west towards Big Bend and then return to Tamm Avenue.

Parking will be free on any lot located on the Forest Park Community College campus, or in the upper Muny parking lot in Forest Park. The first 20 male and first 20 female finishers will receive awards.

All participants will receive a commemorative certificate and those who register early will receive a long-sleeve shirt.

For registration details visit www.stlouistrackclub.com or call 314-781-3926. Packet pick up is taking place on Thursday and Friday, December 3 and December 4, from 9 a.m. to noon at the St. Louis Track Club offices.
