ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Governor Jay Nixon has outlined his plan to create funding aimed at attracting and keeping high-tech scientific and research jobs in Missouri.

Nixon discussed the plan Wednesday at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in St. Louis. He planned a similar announcement later in the day in Kansas City.

Nixon called the Missouri Science and Innovation Reinvestment Act a "major component" of his economic development plan for the 2010 legislative session.

The plan would divert an annual portion of the new tax revenues generated by biotechnology companies to a special state fund, from which incentives could be doled out to new or expanding entrepreneurs in the same field.
