KSDK -- Firefighters in St. Charles County are being called heroes Monday after rescuing an elderly woman from a house fire.
They responded to a home on Quiet Field Court in St. Peters just before 2:10 p.m. and saw smoke coming from the attic. Crews went into the house after a neighbor told them an elderly couple lives there.
A man was in the process of getting out of the home, but a 91-year-old woman with dementia had to be rescued. The couple is doing fine. And because the damage to the house was not too bad, authorities said they'll be able to stay at home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
