KSDK -- It could be a messy evening drive for St. Louisans.
Snow started falling at Interstate 70 and Bryan Road around 11:15 a.m. in Wentzville.
MoDOT said it has 460 trucks on the road and 230 employees working 12 hour shifts.
MoDOT spokesperson Kara Price said the roads were mostly wet and temperatures were just at or above freezing.
Mitchell Turpin, who has his own snow removal business, said he is bracing for a 12 to 14 hour day.
"All I got is, I got my plow, my salter, a big pile of salt on the back and I got some tools in case anything breaks," Turpin said.
MoDOT said if drivers have any problems, they should call 1-888-ASK-MODOT.
