KSDK -- Missouri Department of Transportation crews have cleared most of the main roads, but are still working to clear roads that have less traffic.

MoDOT said interstates and the major state-numbered and lettered routes are partially covered to mostly clear in some areas. Lower-volume state-numbered and lettered routes are mostly covered to partially covered with snow in other areas.

MoDOT crews are using a combination of chemicals, beet juice and rock salt to help clear the roads and to make sure the treatment continues to work as the temperatures drop.

Maintenance and Motorist Assist crews are working 12-hour shifts until all the roads are clear.

Drivers who have to head out are reminded to stay back at least 100 feet from plows and not to pass or drive beside them.

You can check road conditions in Missouri by calling 1-888-ASK-MODOT.
