Family of four walk away after car skids along Interstate 55

KSDK -- A Minnesota family of four is safe after their vehicle skidded on an icy overpass on Interstate 55 in Montgomery County, Illinois.

According to Illinois State Police, the accident happened February 6 on I-55 near milepost 54, just two miles north of Litchfield.

The family was riding in a 1997 Ford Expedition when the driver, a 41-year-old woman, attempted to change lanes while on the overpass. The driver lost control on an icy patch and struck the overpass barrier.

The car sustained front end damage and damage to the front driver's side wheel. The other occupants of the vehicle, a 45-year-old man and two young boys, ages three and 16, were uninjured.
