Kay Quinn emcees Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure event at Lumiere

KSDK -- St. Louis is known for putting on the largest Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure in the world.

On Thursday, the countdown to the 2010 race officially kicked off at Lumiere Place. About 500 people gathered to celebrate.

Also on hand, this year's honorary co-chairs: members of the St. Louis Athletica, a founding franchise of the Women's Professional Soccer league.

Wells Fargo Advisors returns as the local presenting sponsor.

The 2010 Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure happens Saturday, June 12 in downtown St. Louis.
Online registration begins Friday, March 12.
