Pocahontas, IL (KSDK) - The car accident Tuesday morning on Interstate 64 near Fairview Heights killed 38-year-old Dennis Beard of Pocahontas, Illinois.

A car ran into Beard and three other men who were working to stripe the highway.

We've learned the driver of the car is 34-year-old Michael Jeter, from West Frankfort, Illinois.

His injuries are not life-threatening and as of now, he has not been charged with a crime.

The other three injured workers are 40-year-old Brian Moore, 39-year-old Kory Links, and 32-year-old Adam Evans.

Three of the workers lived in Pocahontas.

Pocahontas, a small town of 850 people north of St. Louis, is also the home of Beard's cousins Adam Evans and Kory Links, who were also injured in the crash.

Brian Moore of Hoyleton has been upgraded to serious condition.

Illinois state police say Michael Jeter had been driving his black 2000 Honda Accord erratically Tuesday morning when he crashed into a construction vehicle on eastbound I-64 near Illinois 159.

The four other men were subcontractors working on the highway.

Pocahontas residents say they are devastated.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
