(The Cardinal Nation Show) -- After blasting the Colorado Rockies 9-2 in the series opener, the St. Louis Cardinals are looking for a repeat in Game 2 of the series at Busch Stadium tonight.
Rookie Joe Kelly will make his fifth major league start for the Cards.
In his last career start against the Miami Marlins, Kelly pitched six innings and gave up two runs on five hits. The right-hander is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA.
Left-handed pitcher Jeff Francis will start for the Rockies. He is 1-1 with a 5.47 ERA. In his last three starts this season, he has only allowed three runs in 16 innings. The veteran pitcher has started nine times against the Cardinals during his career.
The Rockies have lost five of their last 7 games. A win tonight, would give the Rockis a chance to win their first series since June 3, while the Cardinals want to extend their streak tonight, the Rockies want to avoid a fourth straight loss.
With the All-Star break rapidly approaching, the Cardinals are just 2.5 games behind the National League Central first-place Cincinnati Reds, and the Rockies sit at last place in the NL West.
The Redbirds face the Rockies tonight at 7:15 p.m. CDT.
