Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - The Arizona Diamondbacks released infielder Geoff Blum and selected the contract of outfielder Ryan Wheeler from Triple-A Reno Friday.

Blum, a 14-year veteran, was hitting .143 with one RBI in 17 games with the Diamondbacks this season.

The 39-year-old has a career .250 average with 206 doubles, 99 home runs, 479 RBI and 446 runs scored.

Wheeler, who has yet to appear in the majors, has a .351 average with 27 doubles, 15 home runs and 90 runs batted in through 93 games for Reno.
