St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - In certain parts of St. Louis, a good rain can do extensive damage and city officials are keeping tabs on several neighborhoods.
NewsChannel 5's Sharon Stevens spent the day with people who live in these flood-prone areas.
Residents say flooding has been a problem in the past. The city has posted signs around here that read, "Potential Flooding, No Parking."
This is one of 20 areas that have been described as "probable flooding area." Street sweepers have been up and down city streets, from north to south, cleaning up debris so that sewers will not clog.
Elliott Hawkins has lived here on Maryland Avenue since the early 1960s.
"I had to put everything out, everything. Everything's gone; memorabilia...all gone," Hawkins said.
Some residents say while they understand the warning, it's difficult to find a spot to park around here.
