Charlotte, NC (CNN) - Women's healthcare was a theme of the Democratic National Convention Wednesday night.
The president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America said President Obama stands with women.
Cecile Richards took aim at Republicans, including Missouri Congressman and Senate candidate Todd Akin.
Akin recently came under fire for saying quote "legitimate rape" rarely results in pregnancy.
"Two years ago when Paul Ryan, and John Boehner, and Todd Akin and the tea party took over the House of Representatives, they promised us they were going to create jobs and jump-start the economy. But instead, on day one, they came after women's health and they haven't let up since," said Richards.
A recent CNN/ORC International poll shows women heavily favor President Obama over Romney when asked which candidate cares more about the needs of people like you.
When women were asked who would manage the government more effectively, it was a statistical tie.
