Chesterfield, Mo (KSDK) - Thursday marked the grand opening of five new big box retail stores in the area.

Electronics retailer HHgregg is expanding across St. Louis County. The chain opened four new stores in the region at locations in Fairview Heights, Fenton, St. Peters and Chesterfield.

As part of the expansion, the company hired some 240 workers in the area, including 50 at the Chesterfield location.

Clothing retailer Nordstrom also opened a new Nordstrom Rack outlet in Manchester as part of a next 10 city expansion across the country for 2012.

The big box made 80 hires in the area and opened to fanfare including contests, giveaways and a live DJ for their premiere in West County.

Hundreds lined the sidewalk to grab speciality items and bargains for the new store opening at 9 a.m.  One shopper even won a timed shopping spree.
