(CNN) - Don't go nuts, but Thursday is National Peanut Day!
At times, they get a bad rap, but there's plenty to love too.
Peanuts contain the most protein of any nut, and they're a good source of fiber.
The average child will eat 1,500 PB&J sandwiches before they graduate from high school, and peanuts are naturally free of trans fats and sodium.
But one to two percent of the U.S. population is allergic to them. That group of people should steer clear.
For the rest of us, Thursday is the day to appreciate the wonderful nuts that made PB& Js possible.
