St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - The St. Louis Cardinals organization has agreed to a four-year player development contract with the Peoria Chiefs of the Midwest League.
The Cardinals and Chiefs shared a 10-year affiliation from 1993-2004, including 2002, when the Chiefs won their only Midwest League Championship, and a three-year minor league stint from 1954-56.
Cardinals General Manager John Mozeliak said he's pleased with the new contract.
Three players currently on the Cardinals' Major League roster have played for Peoria: Yadier Molina (2002), Jason Motte (2003) and Kyle McClellan (2004).
