St. Louis (KSDK) - The tough economy means a growing number of Americans are not filling prescriptions for medications because they can't afford them, according to consumer reports magazine.

A local pharmacist has seen firsthand the dangerous consequences of patients not taking prescribed medication.

Whether recovering from a stroke or treating a mental illness, many people are taking potentially dangerous measures to save money on their health care. When you can't afford to pay for prescription drugs or medical care, it's enough to make you sick.
