St. Louis (KSDK) - A bird strike forced an American Airlines flight to return to St. Louis Friday night.
Flight 1186 took off from Lambert-St. Louis International Airport at 7:43 p.m. and was headed to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.
After the bird strike the pilots reported a burning odor and made the decision to return to Lambert.
The plane landed at 7:58 p.m. and the passengers were moved to another aircraft which departed at 9:28 p.m. and landed safely in Chicago.
The MD-80 was carrying 112 passengers and five crew members.
