O'FALLON, Mo. (KSDK) - The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged a 21-year-old O'Fallon man for allegedly tying up a woman and sexually assaulting her.
According to Colonel Roy Joachimstaler, O'Fallon Police Chief, the attack occurred just after midnight on December 5 in the 1000 block of Southernside Lane.
Police received a call from a man asking them to check on the well-being of his girlfriend. When officers arrived at the residence, they found her bound and gagged. Officers had interrupted a sexual assault and the suspect fled jumping from a second-floor balcony. Police eventually found the suspect, identified as James Helderle, and apprehended him.
James Helderle was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, felonious restraint, armed criminal action, and forcible sodomy-deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion.
Helderle remains jailed on $500,000 bond.
