Granite City, IL (KSDK) - The Madison County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an accident in the 5200 block of Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday.
When deputies arrived at the scene they determined a vehicle struck the front door of Patty McD's Tavern.
The crash caused significant damaged to the business and the suspects fled the scene.
Deputies located the suspected vehicle a short distance from the scene of the crash.
The driver, 20-year-old Darryl D. Bennett of Granite City, was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while license suspended, leaving the scene of a traffic accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver, and unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Bennett was transported to the Madison County Jail and is being held pending a formal review by the Madison County State's Attorney's Office.
The passenger, 19-year-old Kira L. Peppers of Granite City, was placed under arrest for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Peppers was transported to the Madison County Jail and held on a $100 cash-only bond.
No one was injured as a result of the accident.
